Job Description

Shape Boston's built environment, one structure at a time. My client is a well‑established, Massachusetts-based structural group with a strong pipeline of building projects across commercial, residential, life sciences, higher education, mixed‑use, and industrial sectors. They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) who enjoys leading small teams, solving complex building challenges, and cultivating trusted client relationships. What you'll do Own building projects end‑to‑end: Lead structural design from concept through CA for new buildings, renovations, adaptive reuse, vertical expansions, and seismic/strengthening scopes.
Engineer core systems:
Design foundations, superstructures, and lateral systems in steel, reinforced concrete, post‑tensioned concrete, masonry, and timber/CLT, with pragmatic details that build well.
Manage a small team:
Mentor and direct 2-6 engineers/designers; set priorities, perform redlines and QA/QC, and develop team capability.
Be the face to clients:
Lead coordination with architects, owners, and CM/GC partners; present options and guide decisions during design and construction.
Seal and sign documents:
Provide final technical review and professional stamp on drawings, specs, and calculations.
Drive predictable delivery:
Plan scope, schedule, and budgets; manage risk; close RFIs/Submittals efficiently and support field issue resolution.
Support growth:
Contribute to proposals and interviews; nurture client relationships and identify follow‑on opportunities. What you'll bring 10+ years of progressive experience in building structures and project delivery. Active PE license Proven team leadership (managing small engineering groups and mentoring junior staff). Proficiency with building design tools (e.g., Revit, RAM, ETABS, RISA, or similar) and strong command of
IBC/ASCE/ACI/AISC.
Excellent communication skills and confidence leading client meetings. Business development exposure (proposals, scoping, networking)•ideal but not required. Why join?
