Job Description

Job Title:
Structural Engineer Job Description This Structural Engineer role focuses on delivering detailed structural design and engineering solutions for refinery, chemical, and heavy industrial facilities. You will perform complex engineering calculations, support and sometimes lead projects, and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative structural designs. The position offers the opportunity to work on interesting projects with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility, including hybrid or fully remote work options. Responsibilities + Perform detailed structural engineering calculations and prepare all necessary technical data and documentation to support project deliverables. + Serve as Project Lead for select single-discipline projects by estimating work hours, developing scopes of work, and making staffing recommendations. + Review and check structural drawings and related documents to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. + Assist with field work, including site visits, checking installations, and supporting on-site problem-solving activities for structural issues. + Interact and collaborate with internal departments, multidisciplinary project teams, and external suppliers to obtain required project information and coordinate design efforts. + Manage the scope of project work, monitor scope and work changes, and adjust project deliverables as necessary to meet budget and schedule commitments. + Use creative and critical thinking to develop practical and innovative structural solutions that meet client requirements and project constraints. + Prepare and present project information, design concepts, and technical findings to internal stakeholders and external client audiences. + Apply structural engineering principles to the design of steel and concrete structures in industrial environments, ensuring safety, reliability, and durability. + Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant design tools to develop and maintain structural models, drawings, and BIM deliverables. + Support industrial design efforts by coordinating structural design with other disciplines and ensuring alignment with overall project objectives. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil Engineering with a structural focus. + 5-10+ years of experience in structural design for refinery, chemical, or heavy industrial facilities. + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required. + Strong understanding and practical experience with AutoCAD for structural design and detailing. + Strong understanding and practical experience with Revit (BIM) for structural modeling and coordination. + Proficiency in structural engineering principles and methods for steel and concrete design in industrial settings. + Ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and prepare comprehensive technical documentation. + Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget within a structural engineering context. + Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external suppliers to gather and coordinate project information. + Effective communication skills to present project information to internal stakeholders and external clients. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Civil Engineering degree with a structural emphasis is preferred. + Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred where not already required. + Experience in industrial structural design using Revit and AutoCAD. + Background in structural engineering for steel and concrete structures in industrial environments. + Experience working on refinery, chemical, or heavy industrial facility projects. + Ability to lead select single-discipline projects, including estimating work hours and making staffing recommendations. + Demonstrated ability to use creative thought to develop innovative project solutions. + Comfort presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Work Environment This role supports a flexible work arrangement, offering an on-site hybrid schedule for individuals located near the office or a fully remote workstation for those working from other locations. You will work with modern structural design tools, including Revit and AutoCAD, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on industrial projects involving refinery, chemical, and heavy industrial facilities. The work environment emphasizes interesting projects, professional autonomy, and the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to deliver high-quality structural solutions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
