Job Description

Our client is a growing structural engineering firm based in San Diego that combines the flexibility of a startup environment with the stability of an established project pipeline. The firm has already built out its internal systems, secured a diverse book of business, and is intentionally scaling its team. Their work spans a wide range of building types, including commercial, residential, multifamily, office, and highly specialized sectors such as nuclear. This breadth allows engineers to develop well-rounded technical experience rather than being confined to a single niche. The culture is forward-thinking and growth-oriented, with a strong emphasis on giving engineers ownership, exposure, and a clear path for advancement. About the Role This role is designed for an engineer who is looking to expand beyond a narrow scope of work and take on broader responsibility. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, with the opportunity to grow technically, operationally, or commercially depending on your interests. The firm is structured to support multiple career paths, whether that leads toward technical specialization, project management, or client-facing responsibilities. Responsibilities Perform structural design and analysis for a variety of building types and materials Prepare calculations, drawings, and construction documents Coordinate with architects, contractors, and internal team members Support construction administration, including RFIs and submittal reviews Contribute to project delivery from concept through completion Participate in client interactions and project discussions, as appropriate Qualifications 3-8 years of structural engineering experience EIT required; PE preferred or in progress Experience with building design across common materials (steel, concrete, wood) Familiarity with structural analysis and design software Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple project types Interest in taking on increased ownership and responsibility Benefits / Growth Opportunity Exposure to a wide range of projects and materials Clear path for technical, managerial, or client-facing growth Opportunity to take ownership earlier in your career Direct access to leadership and involvement in firm growth Collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment If you are interested in applying, please submit your application or reach out directly for more information.
