Job Title:
Structural Engineer Job Description Join a diverse team of mechanical and manufacturing engineers to lead the structural development of a hypersonic vehicle. You will be responsible for making final technical decisions for the structures subsystem and leading the successful execution of structural design reviews to advance the program through manufacturing and into flight testing. Responsibilities Lead structural systems engineering approach, including creating and dispositioning structural requirements, managing mass properties, and guiding configuration management of models. Review and approve documents, reports, and analyses. Set engineering and design best practices and standards for the structures team. Make decisions on waiving or approving ground testing based on structural technical risk assessments. Work closely with program responsible engineers and Chief Engineer to lead the program to success. Communicate regularly and comprehensively with the program Chief Engineer. Travel as needed to support the program. Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments. Essential Skills Mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, aerospace structural, aircraft, airframe, aerospace design, CATIA. Knowledge of mechanical design, structures, mechanical systems, structural-thermal analysis, aircraft systems, aircraft operations, and launch vehicle integration. Significant experience with rapid development of prototype or experimental flight vehicles, including full life-cycle involvement on at least one program. Significant experience as a design engineering lead and/or analyst on a structures team. Experience with metallic structures design, analysis, and manufacturing. Experience with technical aerospace leadership, including working with sub-contractors. Experience with risk management. Experience working in small engineering teams with multiple responsibilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to align with business goals. Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with hypersonic and/or supersonic vehicle development. Experience with air-launched vehicle development. Experience with composite structures design, analysis, and manufacturing. Experience with personnel management and small team leadership. Active Secret, TS, and/or SCI security clearance. Work Environment This is a full-time role offering a long-term opportunity in a supportive, family-oriented environment with numerous perks, including gym access, health and wellness benefits. The work involves using advanced technologies such as 3D CAD (Siemens NX and Teamcenter preferred), MS Office, and configuration management systems like JIRA, GIT, and JAMA. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Mojave, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $237000.00/yr.
