Job Description

Senior Structural Engineer - Industrial Projects (Brea, CA) A well‑established structural engineering group in Southern California is adding a Senior Structural Engineer to its Brea‑based team to support a growing portfolio of industrial and commercial‑manufacturing projects . This is a hands‑on, Senior execution role for an engineer who enjoys owning projects , making technical decisions, and staying close to the design work—not a people‑management or review‑only position. Why This Role Stands Out Work on complex industrial and heavy‑engineering projects , not residential or light commercial Take true project ownership from concept through construction Operate with a high degree of autonomy and trust Join a team where structural engineering is a core focus , not an afterthought Be a go‑to technical leader without taking on formal people‑management responsibilities What You'll Be Doing Lead structural design and analysis for steel and concrete systems , including foundations and seismic considerations Own projects end‑to‑end: calculations, system design, coordination, RFIs, and technical problem‑solving Work directly with clients, owners, and internal project teams Guide junior engineers and drafters on a project basis (no direct reports) Spend the majority of your time ( ~50-70% ) in hands‑on design and calculations Participate in limited site visits and field coordination as needed Technical Environment You'll actively work in the firm's core structural tools, including:
RAM RISA ENERCALC
Excel / Mathcad Bluebeam (heavy usage for markups and coordination) Direct AutoCAD or Revit production may vary by project, but the ability to review, coordinate, and redline drawings confidently is essential. What We're Looking For 10-15+ years of structural engineering experience Strong background in industrial or commercial‑industrial projects Deep experience with steel and concrete design Comfortable operating independently and making sound technical decisions Strong communicator who can interface directly with clients and owners PE license required (SE a plus, but not mandatory) This role is not a fit for engineers whose experience is primarily residential or light commercial. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $67.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
