THE ROLE AXIOM
is growing its structural practice across four offices and is looking for a licensed Structural Engineer, PE who is ready to own projects, hit the ground running, and help shape what structural looks like at AXIOM. This is not a seat in a production line — it is an opportunity to take real ownership of projects and build toward a leadership role. You will carry projects from schematic through construction documents, coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning engineers as part of an integrated studio team, and work across a portfolio that includes luxury residential, resort and hospitality, commercial, and institutional and civic projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop structural framing layouts from schematic design through construction documents
- Perform gravity and lateral calculations; apply seismic design requirements per ASCE 7, IBC, NDS, ACI, AISC, TMS, and others
- Select materials and systems; specify framing sizes, connections, load paths, and foundation systems; develop wall sections and custom details
- Evaluate existing structures for renovation, repurposing, or forensic assessment as needed
- Produce Revit models, drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Coordinate with the design team to resolve conflicts; provide CA support including submittals, RFIs, site visits, and project meetings
- Manage project scope, budget, and schedule; assist with proposals and project closeout
- Maintain current knowledge of structural codes; participate in QA/QC reviews
- Interface with clients, code officials, and contractors as needed
- Participate in internal initiatives including process improvement, quality assurance, and professional development
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering or equivalent
- Active PE license required; active NCEES Record preferred
- 5-8 years of building structural engineering experience, including at least 1-3 years post-licensure
- Autodesk Revit required; structural analysis software (RISA, RAM, or equivalent) required; Bluebeam preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word in particular)
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate directly with architects and contractors
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Professional, clear communication style
