Civil Project Engineer | Pierre, SD IMEG Corporation life insurance, tuition reimbursement United States, South Dakota, Huron 2297 Kansas Avenue Southeast (Show on map) Apr 24, 2026 Civil Project Engineer | Pierre, SD IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Engineer in Pierre, SD, to lead low- to moderate-complexity civil site design projects and support larger, high-complexity project delivery alongside senior staff. You'll provide engineering solutions and advice to clients-supporting analysis, design, field inspections, reports, permit applications, and site drainage/grading designs-while working within project budgets and collaborating across teams. Principal Responsibilities Lead design efforts for civil site design projects (commercial, residential, and industrial)
Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standards
Complete and oversee permit applications with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdictions
Perform surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design
Support projects through bidding and construction administration
Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationships
Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and client direction while monitoring percent complete and fee expended
Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers/consultants on practical approaches
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance by interpreting state/local design criteria and applying them to project needs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned with project goals; identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
Professional Engineer (PE) License required
2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering field
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
Ability to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
