Job Description
Senior Bridge Engineer - Dallas, TXOverview A leading, multidisciplinary engineering and architecture firm is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to support its Transportation practice in the Dallas office. This individual will play a key role in delivering complex bridge and structural projects across Texas while providing technical leadership, mentorship, and coordination across disciplines. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with TxDOT standards and a passion for high‑quality, community-focused infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Expertise & Design LeadershipLead structural design of bridges and transportation-related structures including concrete and steel bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other structural systems.
Perform and review structural analyses using advanced tools (finite element modeling, load ratings, complex geometry modeling, seismic analysis, etc.).Prepare and oversee bridge plans, specifications, and estimates consistent with TxDOT requirements and local agency standards.
Ensure all deliverables meet rigorous QA/QC requirements.
Project Delivery & CoordinationServe as task lead or discipline lead on major transportation projects.
Collaborate closely with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulics, environmental, and construction-phase teams.
Support project managers with scope development, scheduling, and budget oversight.
Assist with design-build and alternative delivery pursuits when needed.
Client Service & Team SupportAct as a senior technical resource for the firm's Texas clients, including TxDOT districts, counties, municipalities, and regional transportation agencies.
Mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical development and career growth.
Contribute to proposal development, technical narratives, and pursuit strategy (experience optional but preferred).Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's in Structural Engineering preferred.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas; Structural Engineer credential is a plus.8-15+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structural engineering.
Strong proficiency with structural design software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, STAAD, PGSuper, LEAP Bridge, or similar.
Demonstrated experience with TxDOT bridge design manuals, standards, and plan prep workflows.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with complex or long-span bridge design.
Design‑build or alternative delivery exposure.
Experience with construction-phase engineering support.
Familiarity with MicroStation/OpenBridge Modeler or similar 3D/BIM tools.
