The forensic group typically works for attorneys, property owners, and contractors to provide an array of investigative services, including: structural site investigations, testing, analysis, expert reports, repair designs, and consulting on construction defect cases. If you are a highly favorable candidate, TSA can train you to be a forensic expert. As a Structural Engineering Forensic Expert , you will: Investigate a variety of structural engineering issues. Analyze structural engineering procedures, applying your comprehensive knowledge of standards and practices. Write clear, scientifically sound reports. Provide expert testimony . Create and defend repair priorities by rank . Provide repair designs as needed . Your expert and inquisitive nature will thrive as you identify causation during your forensic investigation and expert witness work. TSA forensic office is in Flower Mound, TX. We service USA.
Requirements:
You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. You have a P.E. license and your S.E license is a plus. You have 5+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience. You have broad structural and vertical construction experience (horizontal also is a plus). You have industrial, institutional, or commercial structures experience, with knowledge or most roof types and applications. You can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team . You have excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills. You are willing to travel about 15% on average. You have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to drive. Prior forensic experience is highly beneficial yet not required. We seek professionals eager to apply their deep industry knowledge to a challenging new area .
Physical Requirements:
Able to walk on uneven ground, crawl in tight spaces, climb ladders, comfortable in high spaces or being on a variety of mechanical lifts or roofs. Able to lift 55 lbs. equipment. Capable of working in heat due to sunny outdoor settings during onsite days.

Our forensic team serves a wide spectrum of clients, such as attorneys, property owners, and property managers. We are a debt-free privately owned corporation, with local ownership who is active in the daily business and holds PE licenses in multiple states. We currently have 3 forensic engineers, plus 7 design engineers actively servicing design and forensic client needs. Position Description:
A wide variety of forensic experience with different project types and construction materials is needed. Our work often involves investigation and/or repair design for building structures requiring increased capacity, damage caused by water (rot, mold, corrosion), fire, thermal movement, weathering, aging, improper original design and/or construction, etc. Work includes main building framing, parking structures, retaining walls, foundations, etc. Construction materials included in our scope of work typically varies, but often consists of: steel, light-gage metal, ordinary concrete, post-tensioned concrete, precast concrete, concrete repair, wood, masonry, façade elements, etc.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and conduct assessments and evaluations of existing structures
  • Review and approve engineers reports before finalizing and sending to clients
  • Evaluate client request for service, including pricing or budget review and finalization
  • Attend meetings with clients, jurisdictional agencies, other professionals and organizations
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints
  • Review designs prepared by others.
  • Perform peer reviews, forensic studies, expert report, and expert witness services
  • Provide testimony under oath in deposition, arbitration, or trial
  • Manage, administer, and design structural projects and structural components
  • Lead and perform design and analysis functions for various structures
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Structural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Ideal, 5 years of forensic and expert witness
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience
  • Extensive experience with assessment and design repair of a variety of structures.
  • Fully fluent in the English spoken and written language.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master of Engineering or Science Degree, PHD in Structural Engineering
  • Passed the
NCEES 16
hours Structural Exam (SE)
  • Experience serving as an expert witness, including preparing reports and providing expert testimony in deposition, arbitration, or trial.

  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Gain confidence of internal and external stakeholders and recognized as a problem solver of in-depth or complex issues as they arise, and to explore or adopt alternative solutions.

Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
This position involves a combination of office work and fieldwork. Field work typically requires the employee to assess buildings, which includes use of ladders, lifts, entering crawl spaces, walking on sloped roofs, crawling through attics, etc. The work also includes assessing structures that have be damaged by fire, extreme weather events, or otherwise collapsed or in danger of collapse. Employees are required to climb over/crawl under obstructions at times to perform their work. This role must be capable of determining where they can safely access the structure to perform their assessment using their prior education and experience. Adherence to health and safety requirements within company policy manuals, and local, state, national rules and laws is imperative. These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
