job summary: A Refrigeration Project Engineer is needed for a leading food manufacturing organization. The Refrigeration Project Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of CAPEX ammonia refrigeration projects across all corporate sites. This role oversees the entire project lifecycle, from budgeting and scope development to system design, contractor management, and project close-out. Additionally, the engineer ensures that all refrigeration systems operate safely and effectively while promoting a culture of workplace safety. Candidates must possess comprehensive experience in the design, construction, and operation of industrial ammonia refrigeration and thermodynamic systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD, the ability to read P&IDs, and experience completing complex engineering calculations-such as load balances and relief valve designs-are required. Familiarity with OSHA PSM, IIAR, and ASHRAE codes is essential, alongside proven project management skills and the flexibility to travel frequently. This job can be located in Dallas or closer to a plant location with anticipated 75% travel monthly.
