JOB SUMMARY
The Project Engineer (Precast Concrete) plays a crucial role in the successful execution of precast concrete projects, from initial planning and design coordination to fabrication, delivery, and installation. This position requires a strong understanding of precast concrete systems, construction processes, and project management principles. The Project Engineer acts as a liaison between design teams, production, and site operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
JOB SCOPE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary Accountabilities Project Planning and Coordination:
Assist in the development of project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent is met. Develop and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Precast Design and Fabrication:
Collaborate with the design team to optimize precast element design for manufacturability and constructability. Prepare and review shop drawings for precast elements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications. Monitor the fabrication process to ensure quality control and adherence to production schedules. Coordinate with the production team to address any fabrication issues or discrepancies.
Site Coordination and Installation:
Coordinate the delivery and installation of precast elements on site. Provide technical support to site personnel, addressing any installation challenges. Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications. Monitor site progress and report on any delays or issues. Coordinate crane lifts and rigging plans.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct inspections and testing of precast elements to ensure compliance with quality standards. Document and address any quality issues or non-conformances.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including design teams, production, and site personnel. Prepare and present project progress reports to management. Document and track project changes and issues.
Safety:
Ensure all safety regulations and company policies are followed on site and in the plant. Participate in safety meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 1 to 3 years of experience in precast concrete or construction projects. Strong understanding of precast concrete systems, design, and construction processes. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings. Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) is preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of ACI and PCI standards. Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera). Experience with BIM.
