Project Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

- Project Engineers perform responsible engineering, technical, and administrative work related to planning, design, construction and inspection of water and wastewater facilities. Does related work as required. Instructions may be provided to assist departmental personnel on specific work activities. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Engineering Manager. Candidates must have existing work authorization and are not eligible for current or future visa sponsorship.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for managing the site plan review process in coordination with the City, Albemarle County, and the Service Authority; Review of plans for compliance with standards of practice; Maintaining all site plans, review records and the tracking database and GIS records; Review of capacity certifications; coordinating with other staff on inspection services for construction such as relocations, taps, and connections; Performs review and coordination of VDOT roadway modification plans; Assists in the development and maintenance of Design Standards and Policies; Assists in department operational activities such as Miss Utility marking, line maintenance, mapping, and GIS development; Prepares in-house technical evaluations and reports as required; Maintains the ability to work with and incorporate technical reference material including current AWWA Standards, VDOT Work Area Safety Manual and construction manuals, construction references, and construction materials and methods; Assists senior staff and other departments with review, analyses, design, and construction of departmental capital and/or maintenance projects; Performs related tasks as required. Project Engineer Title & Salary Range to commensurate with Education & Experience if Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer with P.E . : Salary Engineer starts at $75,000/year, and ranges to $126,000/year
