Job Description

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES
As a Structural-Mechanical Engineer for Intelligence Systems, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis using applicable material resources, methods, and standards; perform design and development of mechanical systems; and carry out other tasks as required and assigned. Our program offers opportunity to see your designs from concept through development to use in operational environments, often with hands-on participation via prototyping and testing. Work products include structural systems, specialized tools, hardware components, assemblies, and prototypes supporting both program technology development tasking and customer operations initiatives. We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: high attention to detail in structural analysis of assemblies and components fabricated from a range of materials; capabilities in machine design and engineering analysis; developing innovative solutions to unique problems; ability and flexibility to work in an often-dynamic environment with an open mind to unconventional design approaches; and experience with material and component testing to verify design fitness.
What sets you apart:
Structural, civil, and/or mechanical background with a demonstrated proficiency in structural analysis via basic hand calculations in addition to use of one or more design and analysis software tools as required by the task Experience with preparation and presentation of technical briefings to communicate analysis results, technical trades, design requirements and specifications, and ability to make technical recommendations to customer technical and management staff Familiarity with engineering standards and codes
  • ASTM, AISC, ACI, NDS, IBC, etc.
  • is a plus Experience with our current CAD and analysis tools
  • Ansys, Plaxis, Inventor, Revit
  • is a plus Demonstrated proficiency in hardware design, modeling, manufacturing and testing is a plus Hands-on construction experience and interest/ability to fabricate physical proof-of-concept mock-ups in a shop/highbay environment makes you a great match Flexibility and willingness to work with multi-disciplined teams on a range of tasking, sometimes in new technology areas, outside the ranges of your expertise Willingness to travel to offsite locations in support of system training and testing is a plus Current Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) registration•not required but welcomedMinimum Secret-level clearance transferrable at time of hire required•TS/SCI with poly is a plus Our Commitment to

Workplace Options:
This position is fully on-site due to the nature of program work and facility infrastructure. Work will be performed at the GDMS facility in Herndon, Virginia. Salary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. Combined Salary Range USD $136,837.00
