Land Planning & Site Development Location:
Richmond, VA (Onsite) Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Designer to join our Richmond, VA office and support land planning and civil site development projects. This onsite role is ideal for an early-career professional with 2-5 years of experience who is eager to expand their technical expertise in a collaborative, fast-paced design environment. The selected candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and planners to develop technical design documents and perform engineering analyses for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual looking to grow under the mentorship of experienced professionals. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of site development plans, including grading plans, utility layouts, roadway alignments, and erosion and sediment control plans. Support feasibility studies and conceptual site design layouts. Perform basic engineering calculations related to stormwater management, drainage, grading, and utility design. Prepare, edit, and maintain project drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D . Coordinate with internal team members to ensure adherence to project standards, timelines, and quality requirements. Assist with permit applications and prepare responses to agency review comments. Participate in project meetings and maintain organized project documentation. Conduct site visits and field investigations as required to support design development. Areas of Expertise Land planning and civil site development fundamentals Grading design, drainage systems, and stormwater management concepts Utility layout and roadway design principles AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting and workflow management Permitting processes and regulatory coordination Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Land Planning, Environmental Engineering, or a related field 2-5+ years of experience in land development or site engineering Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (required) Working knowledge of site development principles, including grading, drainage, and utility design Familiarity with local zoning regulations and land use requirements (preferred) Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute within a team-oriented environment
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
