Sat/Wed SUMMARY:
The Mobile Building Engineer is a skilled facilities maintenance professional responsible for evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of building systems and equipment to ensure facilities remain fully operational and meet client expectations. This position will be involved in corrective and preventive maintenance activities, minor alterations, and general building repairs across multiple client locations. A company vehicle will be provided for business use. The regular schedule for this position is Saturday through Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Saturday and Sunday duties will be performed at a designated site in Springfield, VA. Monday through Wednesday responsibilities will include servicing various client locations throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.
DUTIES:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial building systems and equipment. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems. Conduct routine inspections of building equipment and identify deficiencies. Respond to service calls and work orders in a timely manner. Perform filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, and other routine maintenance tasks. Operate and monitor HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, boilers, and associated mechanical systems. Troubleshoot building automation and controls systems. Perform minor plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, flush valves, drains, and related fixtures. Perform minor electrical repairs including lighting, receptacles, switches, ballasts, and breakers. Perform minor carpentry, drywall, ceiling tile, painting, and general building repairs. Escort contractors, vendors, inspectors, and service providers as needed. Assist with event setup and breakdown activities. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, materials, and debris as required. Perform hauling and disposal of trash, construction debris, and surplus materials. Travel to multiple client locations to perform maintenance and repair services as assigned. Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory in a clean and professional manner. Demonstrates initiative in assignments and maintains positive customer relations. Responds to emergency calls. Follows all safety practices and adheres to all safety-related policies. Maintains accurate and timely paperwork. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be available for occasional after-hours and weekend emergency service calls as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of commercial building maintenance experience. At least 3 years of experience as a Building Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar role. Strong HVAC troubleshooting and repair skills. Basic plumbing troubleshooting and repair skills. Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair skills. Experience with commercial building mechanical systems. Experience with building automation and controls systems preferred. Basic carpentry, drywall, painting, and general maintenance skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. Basic computer skills/email usage. CMMS experience preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong customer service and communication skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to operate a company vehicle safely and professionally. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials.
