Job Description

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Rail) to join our Transportation team in Bellevue, WA in Summer 2026, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our transit and rail clients; including design and execution of transitway and railway infrastructure projects. In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will work on Rail Stations and transportation structure construction projects. Projects range from extending and renovating existing facilities to developing new alignments, guideways and stations.
Your Responsibilities May Include:
  • Assist in the design and analysis of railway infrastructure, including track geometry, guideway design, stations and systems interfaces.
  • Use specialized rail engineering software and CAD tools for design tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Learn and apply relevant railway and transitway standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Group Leader and other team members.
  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Ideally, You Will Have:
  • Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed at least two years of engineering coursework at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Coursework in transportation, Rail, and CAD software is preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
