Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Group Manager•Seattle, WA Company Overview A highly respected geotechnical engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead and grow a key practice area within its Pacific Northwest operations. Position Summary This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer ready to step into a Group Manager / Principal-level role. The position combines technical leadership, team mentorship, and business ownership, offering the opportunity to shape and grow a practice within a well-established and expanding organization. You will play a central role in driving client relationships, winning and delivering work, and developing a high-performing team. This role is ideally suited to an entrepreneurial professional seeking both autonomy and long-term growth within a stable, project-rich environment. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and grow a team of geotechnical engineers and project staff Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment Contribute to recruitment, staff development, and retention Business Development & Practice Growth Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the Pacific Northwest Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leading proposals and negotiations Take ownership of revenue growth and overall performance of the geotechnical group Project & Technical Oversight Provide senior-level oversight on geotechnical projects, ensuring technical quality and successful delivery Serve as Principal-in-Charge on key projects Guide teams on complex geotechnical challenges and design decisions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (advanced degree preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) license required 12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience Experience working within the Pacific Northwest region strongly preferred Proven track record in business development and client management Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and delivering projects Strong technical expertise across geotechnical engineering disciplines Why This Role?
