Job Title:
Project Engineer (Richland, WA) Job Description The Project Engineer supports project leadership and field teams by coordinating documentation, communication, and daily activities so that all work aligns with project plans, specifications, and schedules. This role manages key project controls, collaborates closely with subcontractors, and helps maintain accurate records and reporting throughout the life of commercial construction projects. Responsibilities Support the Project Manager and field teams in planning and executing commercial construction projects so that work aligns with approved plans, specifications, and schedules. Manage RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and field logs from creation through approval and distribution using Procore and internal systems. Maintain organized, up‑to‑date project documentation, including drawings, logs, correspondence, and reports. Communicate regularly with subcontractors to clarify scope, track progress, and ensure adherence to project requirements. Report accurate status updates, issues, and risks to project leadership in a timely manner. Assist with schedule updates, including coordinating with field teams and subcontractors to reflect current progress. Support cost reviews, change order preparation, and cost proposals by gathering data, verifying quantities, and updating logs. Assist with drafting, reviewing, and tracking subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring completeness and compliance with project requirements. Review plans and specifications to understand project scope, identify discrepancies, and support field installation methods. Participate in project meetings, pre‑installation reviews, and site walks to verify quality, installation methods, and compliance with project requirements. Use Procore for document and drawing management, ensuring that the latest information is accessible to project stakeholders. Support vertical build and commercial construction project coordination activities across multiple disciplines. Coordinate and track RFIs and change orders to ensure timely responses and minimize impacts to schedule and budget. Prepare and maintain project logs, reports, and other documentation required by project leadership. Collaborate with the project team to resolve field issues by gathering information, reviewing documents, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering. 5-10 years of commercial construction experience. Experience in project engineering and commercial construction project coordination, including vertical builds. Proficiency with Procore for document and drawing management. Hands-on experience managing submittals, RFIs, ASIs, and field logs. Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors and maintain clear scope control. Strong skills in plan and specification review to support field execution and quality control. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work reliably in both office and active jobsite environments. Capability to assist with RFIs, change orders, and cost proposals in a commercial construction context. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with construction management processes and tools for scheduling, coordination, and documentation. Familiarity with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software. Ability to support cost reviews, subcontract and purchase order administration, and related project controls. Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate, up‑to‑date project records and logs. Detail-oriented approach to document management and quality verification during site walks and pre‑installation reviews. Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, field teams, and subcontractors in a fast-paced construction environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a hybrid setting that includes both a professional office environment and active commercial construction jobsites. In the office, the Project Engineer regularly uses standard computer and office equipment while working with digital plans, schedules, and project documentation. On jobsites, the role involves exposure to typical construction conditions such as noise, dust, varying weather, and moving equipment. Physical activities may include sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and occasional lifting, bending, or climbing consistent with commercial construction environments. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Richland, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
