Job Description

Soils & Engineering Services, Inc., a locally-owned Madison, Wisconsin-based geotechnical engineering firm, is seeking to add a licensed Geotechnical Engineer to our staff. We are a small-sized company that works on large-scale projects, and this role supports our geotechnical team through analysis, reporting, and coordination with field and laboratory operations.
Responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and classifying soil boring logs and laboratory test results
  • Preparing and finalizing geotechnical engineering reports to firm and client standards
  • Requesting and reviewing laboratory tests in support of geotechnical analyses
  • Providing technical oversight of laboratory testing procedures to ensure compliance with ASTM and applicable standards
  • Performing geotechnical analyses, including: o Slope stability o Soil bearing capacity and settlement computations o Rate of consolidation analyses o Double-ring infiltration testing and analysis
  • Supporting consistency and quality across geotechnical work products
Requirements:
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin (geotechnical)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
  • Extensive hands-on experience performing core geotechnical analyses
  • Proficiency in geotechnical tools and software: o Boring log management software o Stability analysis software o AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks as project needs require
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
  • Experience working in a small or owner-operated firm environment
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin geotechnical conditions, soil profiles, and project types
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
