Full Job Description Senior Structural Engineer Locations:
Madison, WI | Rock Island, IL | Urbandale, IA About the Role We seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead structural design efforts, collaborate with senior staff, and deliver innovative solutions for a wide range of building projects. You will work closely with engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure high-quality engineering analysis, design, and project execution. Key Responsibilities Lead the analysis and design of structural systems , preparing calculations, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with codes. Support project execution through planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities Document design decisions, track progress, and monitor project budgets and timelines Analyze engineering challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions Identify project risks and escalate issues to the Project Manager as needed Oversee projects through the full lifecycle , including: Design development Construction documentation Construction administration (submittals, RFIs, site observations) Uphold safety, ethics, and professional standards in all work Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent) Minimum 8 years of experience (10+ preferred) in building design consulting Strong knowledge of: Structural systems and load paths Materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) Engineering mechanics and design standards Proficiency in structural design and analysis software Experience producing technical plans and specifications Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Willingness to travel up to 15% (including occasional overnight stays) Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Structural Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license Structural Engineer (SE) license or progress toward certification Experience mentoring or training junior engineers
