Staff Engineer

We are a growing civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering firm headquartered in Beckley, WV. We are looking for hard-working, detail-oriented Staff Engineers to join our team and contribute across our Civil Engineering, Mining, Environmental, and Industrial practice areas. What you'll do: Assist licensed engineers and project managers with engineering design calculations across civil, environmental, and mining project types Prepare technical design reports, engineering drawings, and project specifications using AutoCAD and Carlson Civil Design Develop heavy earthwork grading and construction plans for energy, mining, and site development projects Assist with preparation and submittal of Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) permit applications Support National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit preparation and compliance documentation Contribute to project planning and development from initial scoping through construction management support Conduct field visits to active project sites to gather data, verify conditions, and support construction administration What you'll bring to the team: Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Environmental Engineering — applicable design and permitting experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Carlson Civil Design for drafting and plan preparation Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel for report writing and data management Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team Strong attention to detail, solid work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional growth Ability to reliably commute to the Beckley, WV office or willingness to relocate prior to starting It would be nice if you had: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active pursuit of the FE exam Exposure to SMCRA permitting, NPDES compliance, or WV DEP regulatory processes through coursework or internship Internship or co-op experience with a civil, environmental, or mining engineering firm Familiarity with geotechnical, stormwater, or earthwork design principles What we offer: Starting salary from $50,000 based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contribution Life insurance and flexible spending account (FSA) Paid time off and holidays Mentorship from licensed PEs and PE licensure support •
