Overland Park, Kansas Contract length: 6-Month Contract to hire
Pay:
$34/hr. - $39/hr. About the Role The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician works under general supervision to perform technical tasks that require intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices. This role supports the development and modification of engineering deliverables, primarily focused on plan and profile design using industry-standard software. You will be part of the Distributed Infrastructure (Grid) team, supporting underground transmission line projects and helping deliver high-quality design solutions to meet client needs. Key Responsibilities Support engineering teams with technical design and documentation tasks Develop plan and profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation Create, update, and maintain technical drawings and project documentation Perform basic engineering computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks Coordinate deliverables with other project teams to reduce conflicts and errors Follow company standards, document control practices, and quality procedures Apply internal quality programs to ensure accurate and compliant deliverables Contribute to continuous improvement and change management initiatives Stay current with evolving technologies, tools, and processes Begin providing guidance and support to junior team members Required Skills & Experience Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation Working knowledge of plan and profile development Basic understanding of alignments, sections, and Civil 3D workflows Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a technical environment Preferred Qualifications Diploma or Certificate in Drafting or related field (required) Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology (preferred) Experience supporting infrastructure or utility projects (a plus)
