THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP

•This position is loced in Base Civil Engineering, Air Nional Guard Wing/Group Flying Activity. The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise in preparing engineering plans, specificions and cost estimes. Additionally, the incumbent of this position will conduct preliminary, intermedie and final contractual inspections. These activities require applicion of the basic principles of engineering technology and reled disciplines. Reviews engineering plans and specificions for compliance with federal and ste regulions, and ensures th design forms comply with applicable guidance. Plans and specificions may be reled to such engineering projects as: electrical distribution systems for office buildings, facilities and airfields; mechanical utility systems such as heing, ventilion, air conditioning; alterion, rehabilition and modernizion of buildings, structures, roads, streets, airfields and appurtenances, power and pumping plants; and other projects similar in scope and complexity. Participes in the construction planning process by investiging proposed projects to obtain field da, check existing facilities and utilities, if any, and to conceptualize the scope of the completed project. Develops and produces engineering specificions and cost estimes using specificion guides, engineering handbooks, building construction cost da, manufacturers publicions, engineering standards for types of merials, fire and safety codes, and other published merial. Applies knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, estiming, and short cut methods of construction and installion, to provide cost estimes. Furnishes sketches and layouts supplemented by verbal or written informion for preparion of drawings. Considers design from standpoint of structural quality, resistance to environmental elements, use, and suitability to equipment and needs. Prepares modificion/alterion design specificions considering existing structures, utilities, facilities and other considerions of projects th are not readily apparent. Considers the structural soundness of existing facilities and adequacy of systems to accommode proposed changes. Applies a practical knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, architecture, and historical project da to ensure project requirements are complete. Coordines with professional engineers, field specialists, safety personnel and journeyman craftsmen to develop specificions and drawings and to provide complete documents which include labor and merial estimes. Conducts construction inspections to ensure contractor compliance with engineering plans, specificions, contractual obligions, and governing laws and regulions. : GS-09 - Must have 1-year equivalent to least next lower grade level experience, educion, or training with knowledge of basic standard engineering principles, methods and practices. Experience reading and interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specificions. Experience planning, scheduling and supervising; exercising initiive and sound judgment. Experience using a variety of inspection techniques and practices to determine compliance with plans and specificions.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Engineering technicians may be certified by the Nional Institute for Certificion in Engineering Technologies, an organizion sponsored by the Nional Society of Professional Engineers. Certificion by the Institute helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.

MILITARY REQUIREMENT

For Dual-Stus Technician positions service affiliion under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by
