Job Description

Position summary The Construction Training Instructor delivers classroom and field-based construction training to Army, Air Force, and Navy Seabee personnel. Responsible for student safety, academic standards, remediation, and maintenance of an orderly, professional training environment. Training is conducted 8 hours/day, 5 days/week across both legacy classroom and lab/project site environments. Instructor specializations (21 total billets) Builder A-School (6 instructors) — Light frame, masonry, concrete, roofing, finishes, painting (BU-A requires 2 instructors simultaneously at all times; no waiver) Steelworker A-School (4 instructors) — Gas/arc welding, sheet metal, steel reinforcing, metal fabrication; min. 10 years SW/welding experience Specialty/OF7 Schools (4.5 instructors) — Construction estimating, planning, scheduling, project execution, inspection, tool/equipment maintenance Builder Advanced Schools (4 instructors) — Concrete & masonry, structure framing, interior/exterior finishes, heavy construction I & II, powder actuated tools Equipment Operator Schools (1 instructor) — Transportation ops, earthwork, pavements; valid CDL and equipment certifications required Construction Electrician Advanced (0.5 instructor) — Interior wiring, cable splicing, power plant maintenance, motors/controls, electrical theory; min. 10 years CE experience Construction Mechanic Schools (0 KTR instructors in FY26) — Power train, hydraulics, engines, automotive A/C, advanced diagnostics; min. 10 years CM experience Minimum qualifications (all instructors) Certified Journeyman in the primary area of instruction Navy
NEC 9502/805A
Instructor qualification or other-service equivalent (or 5 years documented equivalent experience) Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant construction field (10 years for Steelworker, CE, and CM specializations) Proficiency with visual information equipment (LCD projectors, smart boards, document cameras) Proficiency with computers and automated office equipment for exam grading and reporting Current CPR certification (must be maintained throughout contract) Favorable NACLC adjudication prior to start of work Work environment & physical demands Split between classroom (prolonged standing) and outdoor construction project sites (extreme weather, active construction hazards). Requires use of power hand tools, lifting of construction materials, climbing ladders, and maneuvering on/around/under structures. Instructors are responsible for student safety at all times.
