This is a direct hire opportunity offering competitive pay, paid certifications, training, and long-term career growth. This position is a step up from a Special Inspector role and is ideal for candidates with a Civil Engineering degree who are interested in field engineering, construction materials testing, structural investigations, and inspections. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both field and technical environments while supporting construction and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
Perform field inspections, materials testing, and engineering support activities on active construction sites. Conduct investigations of existing structures and perform non-destructive evaluations of materials. Prepare detailed daily field reports and project documentation. Review construction plans and blueprints to verify project compliance and specifications. Communicate with project managers, contractors, technicians, and clients regarding testing procedures, site conditions, and project updates. Maintain testing equipment and follow company safety standards and procedures. Perform physically demanding field work including lifting equipment, climbing, bending, squatting, and traversing uneven terrain. Support projects that may occasionally require after-hours, night, or weekend work.
Requirements:
Four-year degree in Civil Engineering required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Basic understanding of construction plans and blueprints. Strong communication, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in active field environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering Intern (EI) certification. NCDOT certifications. American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I certification. Nuclear Gauge User Certification.
