Job Description

Posting Details Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of closing date. The Construction and Civil Rights Bureau (CCRB) is part of the Operations Division. CCRB provides the resources necessary to ensure the quality of construction projects by improving decisions made in the field, making information available for training and to maintain statewide consistency. As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to received three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Why does the job exist? This position provides support to the District Audit sections, Highway Project Offices, Contractors, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in regard to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Ware Project Construction database and reports, and project policies and procedures. How does it get done? The primary responsibilities of this position will include: Assisting in the management of the AASHTO Ware Project Construction database and software program. This includes verifying the accuracy of AASHTO Ware Project Construction data by running reports and comparing to the tables in the database on a monthly or as needed basis, responding to incoming questions or problems regarding AASHTOWare Project Construction, and tracking problems and solutions in the tracking database. Development of procedures for consistent utilization of AASHTO Ware Project Construction within the districts and project offices. Providing accurate reports on construction data in support of the Department¿s Mission and Business Plan. Assist with reviewing and updating the Office Procedures Manual, and address inquiries regarding AASHTO Ware Project Construction, the Office Procedures Manual, and related construction procedures from the Districts, General Office, Consultants, and Contractors. Who are the customers? New Mexico Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and contractors. Ideal Candidate New Mexico Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and contractors. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver¿s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment. Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions: hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow. Exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; exposure to temperatures up to 150 degrees around oil distributor operations; high speed/high volume traffic and loud noises; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; standing for extended periods of time doing traffic control or walking long distances for litter control; hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and is subject to call out for weather, accidents and/or emergencies on short notice; frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays to include weekends, holidays, and overtime are required.
