Within the Highway or Structural Design Bureau the incumbent would perform or be responsible for completion of a variety of design related duties that may include but are not limited to: Design of simple projects or parts of more complex projects. Prepare plans and/or details utilizing CADD drafting software. Prepare cost and quantity estimates for contracts. Review and/or prepare specifications. Check and verify the accuracy of design, contract plans and estimates prepared by others. Prepare written reports and preliminary cost estimates for construction alternatives. Review bid results and make recommendation to award construction contract. Collect field data to aide in the design of projects. Use various computer applications in the performance of your duties Minimum Qualifications 1.

High school graduation or equivalent and four years of full-tie experience assisting in engineering or engineering technology, engineering management technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the
NY HELPS
Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS
will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an
NY HELPS
title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Additional Comments This is a Unit 2 CSEA position. The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
