THE OPPORTUNITY
Join the Village of Bellevue's Public Works team as an Engineering Technician and play a key role in supporting a growing community. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of infrastructure projects, combining fieldwork and office responsibilities to ensure quality, safety, and compliance. From construction inspection and surveying to design support and GIS mapping, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to meaningful community improvements. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with a balance of field and office capabilities. Technical Skills Knowledge of construction inspection, surveying, and infrastructure systems Experience with: Surveying equipment (GPS, levels, etc.), CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD), GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI) Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and interpret plans/specifications Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks Problem-solving and sound decision-making skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Communication & Interpersonal Skills Clear, professional communication with contractors, engineers, and the public Ability to explain technical information in an understandable way Comfortable acting as a liaison across multiple stakeholders Work Style & Attributes Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and construction environments Organized and proactive with documentation and reporting Safety-conscious and compliant with regulations Willingness to learn and stay current with industry practices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in civil engineering technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Progressive responsible experience in engineering practices preferred. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license and access to an operable and licensed vehicle. CDL is not required.

The Village is seeking candidates with an associate degree in civil engineering technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to succeed in the role. Students graduating in Spring 2026 are encouraged to apply. This is a full-time position with a pay grade of H6, ranging from $28.91 to $38.55 per hour, with an anticipated starting wage of $28.91 to $30.84 depending on qualifications.
