Job Description

The City of Mequon is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our Public Works team.   • Manage the City's Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating (PASER) system and develop 5-year road improvement plans and maps for road repaving and maintenance.
  • Provide plan review and project management for road and construction projects including all phases of the bid process and award of contract.
  • Design plans and develop project specifications in accordance with acceptable engineering practices.
  • Assist with project management for City projects (road improvements, seal coating, drainage improvements, bike paths, sidewalks, sanitary sewer force main, parks, etc.).
  • Perform survey work including topographic, drainage, boundary, and construction surveys.
  • Inspect infrastructure construction done under private development.
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant City Engineer. What We're Looking For
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering.
  • Associate's degree in civil engineering or construction management or a minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible duties in the field of civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided drafting, input and modifications of web-based GIS systems. Knowledge of survey field instruments and related software.
  • Knowledge of the various elements of project management and construction inspection.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with contractors, developers, residents, etc.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record at time of hire and throughout employment. Benefits Available To You Current salary range: $61,998

Work Hours and Environment This is a full-time role with regular hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday from mid-October through mid-May. Alternate work hours from mid-May through mid-October are 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
