Through a diversified team of highly competent and knowledgeable professionals, RESD's highest priority is to fulfill state agencies' facility and real property needs. This includes asset management and planning, property sales and acquisition, project management, architectural and engineering services, leasing and planning, construction management, energy efficiency and supply programs, and environmental assessments. RESD provides opportunities for private sector companies to partner with the state on its many projects. RESD is a national and global leader, and an influential role model, in implementing environmentally sustainable practices and has received prestigious honors for designing, building, and operating state-owned facilities that are models of energy efficiency and environmental quality. RESD manages over 24 million square feet of space in state owned or managed facilities. Its major capital outlay, special repair, and minor capital outlay projects encompass almost 1,200 projects valued in excess of $4.2 billion. Within RESD, the Project Management and Development Branch (PMDB) provides architectural and engineering services; space planning and interior design; construction and construction inspection services; energy and environmental services, and other competencies such as seismic retrofits, asbestos abatement, and underground tank removal. PMDB additionally provides project management services for complex real estate projects. PMDB manages the design and construction process on behalf of state agencies and departments. PMDB assists state agencies and departments in developing conceptual documents for cost and budget control, programming, site planning and master planning, and other documents for conceptualizing capital outlay projects that are necessary to obtain legislative authorization and funding projects.

https://www.dgs.ca.gov/RESD The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking to hire three (3) Student Assistants to support a variety of architectural and engineering projects. Our work includes state office building tenant improvements, alterations for a variety of owned state buildings and new construction for a wide range of uses. Project sizes range from very small remodels up to approximately $25 million. The successful candidate(s) will support architecture and engineering staff and create documents required to design and construct state architecture projects. This is a technical position and requires frequent use of AutoCAD, Revit or other electronic drafting tools. Architecture and Interior Architecture candidates will be expected to already be fluent in Revit or demonstrate the ability to learn to use the software quickly. Electrical and Mechanical Engineering candidates will be expected to already be fluent in AutoCAD or demonstrate the ability to learn to use the software quickly. Proficiency in both programs is a plus. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. 70 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term. Candidates will be expected to be fluent in AutoCAD and/or Revit or demonstrate the ability to learn to use the software quickly.
Candidates must possess:

Desire to learn and grow and have interest in the fields of architecture and engineering. Preferred Qualifications Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility. Demonstrated AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is very desirable. Experience creating and organizing construction documents is a plus. Duties and Responsibilities All work will be under the direction of DGS architecture and engineering staff: Perform modeling, drafting and graphics work by preparing architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD drafting software, and other applicable electronic drafting tools, in order to assist design staff. Participate with other students and staff in creating Revit building models for existing DGS owned buildings. Develop project plans, elevations and details in order to create accurate and detail documents in accordance with office drafting standards and conventions. Attend field investigations at project sites to collect existing conditions data. Take field measurements and use hand sketching, photography and note taking to document and record field conditions for use in project development. Observe at projects under construction. Support DGS architecture and engineering staff by compiling as-built plans in AutoCAD and/or Revit drafting software or other applicable drafting tools. Provide general office support including plotting, scanning, printing, etc. Assist in maintaining the Architecture and Engineering project database. Physical Requirements Sit for extended per iods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
