Job Description

About Designed Structures & Construction At Designed Structures & Construction, we build premium residential projects across the Treasure Valley. We are a design-build firm that takes projects from concept through construction, and every person on our team plays a direct role in the client experience and the quality of what we deliver. We hire carefully — every person on this team was chosen because they are serious about their craft and committed to a high standard of work. The Role The Drafting and Design Specialist owns the full design and documentation workflow for DSC projects—from initial client concept through permit-ready drawings. You work directly with clients to develop design concepts, select materials, and present 3D visualizations, then translate those decisions into detailed construction drawings. Chief Architect is the primary tool for this role and proficiency is required, not preferred. If you can open Chief Architect and build a model from scratch, generate permit drawings, and walk a client through a 3D rendering in the same meeting—this role was written for you. This is a full time salary position. What You'll Do Design ▸ Conduct design consultation meetings with clients to establish project vision, scope, and material preferences. ▸ Develop design concepts and schematic layouts in Chief Architect; produce 3D renderings for client presentations. ▸ Curate material, finish, and fixture selections in coordination with client and Preconstruction Manager. ▸ Maintain design intent documentation throughout the project lifecycle. ▸ Revise designs through client review cycles; track and incorporate feedback clearly. Drafting & Documentation ▸ Produce complete permit-ready drawing sets from approved design concepts: floor plans, elevations, building sections, structural notes, and site plans as required. ▸ Coordinate with Preconstruction Manager on constructability; incorporate field feedback into drawing revisions. ▸ Maintain organized drawing files with version control; ensure current drawings are accessible to the project team. ▸ Prepare and submit permit application documentation; respond to plan check comments. ▸ Support project team with RFI responses and design clarifications during construction. What We're Looking For ▸ Proficient in Chief Architect — this is a hard requirement. Please do not apply if you have not used Chief Architect on residential projects. ▸ 2+ years producing design and construction drawings for residential remodel or new construction. ▸ Experience presenting design concepts directly to clients, including 3D walkthroughs. ▸ Working knowledge of residential construction: framing, rough-in MEP, building envelope, and finish sequences. ▸
Detail-oriented:
drawings must be complete enough that a subcontractor can bid from them without a phone call. ▸ Organized, with strong version control habits and clear file management. Compensation $62,000-$78,000 depending on experience and Chief Architect proficiency. Full benefits package. How to Apply Send your resume and portfolio samples (or Chief Architect project files) to info@dscboise.com. Show us your drawings and your design work—we want to see both. DSC is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve and the quality of work we deliver.
Pay:
$62,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
Benefits:
401(k) Health insurance Paid time off
Work Location:
In person
