at Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Ensures the timely delivery of the annual Contract Maintenance program and Day Labor Program. Administers the Electrical Maintenance Contract. Provides technical advice to Illinois Department of Transportation ( IDOT ) and local agency personnel, contractors and consultants in the design, construction and maintenance of electrical devices, safety related highway features, pavement conditions and drainage. Answers complaints and inquiries from local officials, civic groups and the public. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of plans, studies and reports. Trains, motivates and evaluates subordinate personnel. Ensures subordinate compliance with all departmental safety rules, practices and procedures. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois. Five years of experience in civil engineering. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of Micro Station, AutoCADD, Syncro and Traffic Signal Design. Strong leadership and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Conditions of Employment Requires a valid driver’s license. Requires occasional field visits/working on job sites in inclement weather and working conditions.
