Our client is a privately owned truss manufacturer headquartered in Clarksville, Indiana, with three fully integrated divisions: design, manufacturing, and trucking. They design, build, and deliver truss systems to high-volume wholesale lumber partners including 84 Lumber, Lowe's, and Home Depot within a 150-mile radius. POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Truss Designer is a high-impact, full-desk role combining advanced technical design expertise with client relationship ownership. You will manage the complete design lifecycle from initial quote through final engineering and delivery coordination while serving as the primary point of contact for assigned wholesale lumber accounts. As the team grows, you will delegate work to Associate Designers while maintaining accountability for quality and client satisfaction. This role is ideal for an experienced truss professional who is technically sharp, relationship-driven, and motivated by performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own a full design desk manage client relationships with assigned wholesale lumber accounts from quote through delivery
  • Produce high-quality, optimized roof and floor truss designs using industry CAD software (Alpine, MiTek, TrussWall, or similar)
  • Prepare truss layouts, quotes, and design packages based on construction documents and building plans
  • Perform final design and engineering of truss jobs for shop production
  • Field measure jobs as required prior to final design and engineering
  • Coordinate with production, delivery, and sales teams to meet schedules
  • Complete or coordinate truss repair designs as necessary
  • Delegate work to Associate Designers while maintaining quality standards and client relationships
  • Mentor Associate Designers and reinforce company design standards and documentation practices
  • Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of all work, job-specific conditions, and client requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in the truss design industry required
  • Proficiency in truss design CAD software (Alpine, MiTek, Truss Wall, or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modeling
  • Solid understanding of physics, structural design principles, statics, and trigonometry
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and building plans
  • Working knowledge of residential, light commercial, and/or agricultural construction and applicable building codes
  • Exceptional communication skills you will interact daily with drivers, builders, clients, production, and internal leadership
  • Self-disciplined, detail-oriented, and results-driven you take ownership of your desk
  • No college degree required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Field measuring at job sites as needed
  • Climbing as required
  • Ability to work comfortably in a manufacturing environment
LOCATION
This role can be based out of our client's headquarters in Clarksville, Indiana or its Florence, Kentucky office opening up candidates from the greater Cincinnati, OH metro area as well.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
    Base Salary:
    Negotiable based on experience

      Revenue-based bonus after Year 1, scaled to company profitability
