Structural Product Design Engineer — Shade & Outdoor Structures Anchor Outdoors Evansville, IN Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Customer communication Stakeholder relationship building Full Job Description Shape Outdoor Experiences with Anchor Industries As a Structural Product Design Engineer, you'll bring ideas to life for products like pool covers, shade systems, pergolas, and related structures. You will own the journey from concept to manufacturable designs, blending hands-on 3D modeling with real-world code compliance and cross-functional collaboration. A day in this role Open your projects dashboard and prioritize tasks to meet departmental and company timelines. Build 3D smart models and detailed drawings in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for new and evolving products. Generate accurate cutting patterns for complex assemblies using AutoCAD, MPanel, and supporting tools. Review requirements and refine specifications after on-site visits and blueprint takeoffs to align with customer needs. Verify designs conform to
IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, NFPA
701, and related standards. Partner with Sales, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Purchasing to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and ready for the floor. Maintain organized part numbers, descriptions, and manufacturing routings for parts and assemblies. Advance design-for-manufacturing and Lean principles to streamline build processes. Work with Purchasing on sourcing and evaluating new materials. Coordinate external partners—vendors, engineers, customers, and sales reps—to keep projects on track. Flex your schedule when needed and be available outside regular hours to support deadlines. What you bring Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering. 0-5 years of related engineering experience; entry-level candidates are welcome. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (or comparable CAD platforms). Advanced Excel and spreadsheet analysis skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, technical documents, and regulations. Clear written and verbal communication for reports, correspondence, and stakeholder interaction; strong relationship-building skills. Drive, resilience, and a commitment to Anchor's goals; proven ability to juggle diverse tasks and meet deadlines. Work environment and physical demands Primarily office-based with periodic time on the production floor and in the field. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and similar activities as needed. Comfort operating in production environments and outdoors in varying weather when required. Reporting and collaboration Reports directly to the Design Engineering Manager. Collaborates with team members at all levels across Anchor Industries.
