Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Designer is responsible for concepts, drawing, and specifications of brand design standards and custom projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for teamwork and effective design for clients. Designers utilize graphics software to prepare files for client concepts through signs production while interacting with all Client Services departments to prepare files. Additionally, Designers communicate with production staff as a resource during fabrication and directly with customers frequently. Identity Group is a collaborative environment delivering exciting sign projects to major hospitality, commercial, exterior, visual décor, and custom brand clients nationwide. Our Client Services team works with Identity Group Sales Personnel and Clients (Interior Design Firms, Architects, Property Management Companies, Branding Agencies, etc.) to determine the look and feel of architectural signage for hotels, resorts, restaurants, healthcare facilities, offices, etc.

Essential Functions:

• Design signs that meet code requirements at the national, state, and local levels (Americans with Disabilities Act, National Fire Code, state and city regulations). Typical restrictions include font style, copy size, color contrast, gloss level, etc.
• Utilize ADA accessibility standards, incorporating best practices into design.
• Create concepts, sign systems, and technical specifications for hospitality brands and other custom projects nationwide.
• Create, develop, and maintain brand standards.
• Create technical drawings for manufacturing, specifying all materials, sizes, colors, and construction processes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail, meeting all customer and production deadlines.
• Perform various research and development duties as needed.
• Create front view, side views, and exploded/assembly views as needed. Prepare full-scale production ready files for various processes.
• Collaborate with Process Engineer, Manufacturing personnel, Purchasing Agent, and Estimator to determine material availability, construction methods, assembly methods, and installation techniques.
• Value-engineer when necessary to determine lower cost alternatives for a given design.
• Read and interpret outside design documents and technical drawings.
• Manage design file library and all supporting documents.
• Create sign specifications to accurately describe the construction and appearance of each sign.
• Interface with clients and other team members to effectively communicate about our products and capabilities and to manage expectations and deliverables.
• Create and maintain drawing templates and archive files in accordance with Identity Group file structure.
• Adheres to all Identity Group policies, procedures, and financial guidelines, maintaining confidentiality of company and employee information at all times.
• Perform other job functions as assigned by manager or designee.

Physical and Work Requirements:

• Regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear and occasionally walk and stand.
• Sedentary work, frequently may lift up to 10 lbs.
• Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and frequent use of keyboard and mouse.
• This is a full-time, on-site position at the Wichita Campus.

Education and Experience:

• Design degree (Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Interior Design, etc.) from an accredited four-year college.
• 3 - 5 years progressive design experience in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proven advanced ability to apply and perform graphic design skills, including drawing/sketching, typography, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing, scale, visual presentation development, and layout.
• A portfolio of work demonstrating design range, conceptual thinking, and hospitality or brand experience is required for consideration.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to trends influencing design in general, and the signage industry specifically.
• Demonstrated ability to create market-appropriate graphic designs within set timelines.
• Demonstrated elevated level of design expertise utilizing Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design software.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to work effectively with internal and external customers and vendors.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
• Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an "all hands-on deck" approach.
• Well-developed organizational skills.

Pay:

$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
