Design Assistant - Kitchen & Bath (High-End Residential)Full-Time, Non-Exempt | Reports to
Lead Designer Compensation:
$24-27 per hour Gramophone Design Build is seeking a talented and driven Design Assistant to join our team in Hunt Valley, MD. About Gramophone Design Build Gramophone Design Build is an award-winning firm serving the Baltimore and Washington, DC metro areas. We specialize in luxury residential design-build projects, including kitchens, bathrooms, home theaters, and full-scale renovations. Our integrated approach combines design, construction, and technology to deliver a seamless client experience and exceptional results. Position Overview The Design Assistant partners closely with our design team throughout the full design-build process - from initial concept through final installation - helping bring thoughtfully curated, highly personalized spaces to life. This role blends creative, administrative, and technical responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Support the development of mood boards, color palettes, and material selections that reflect each client's vision Assist in producing layouts, floor plans, and 3D renderings using industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks, 2020 Design, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop) Research and source furnishings, textiles, fixtures, and finishes with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship, and design integrity Identify products, compare pricing, and coordinate with trusted vendors Order samples and track procurement to ensure timely project progression Prepare polished client presentations that clearly communicate design intent Communicate with clients to gather preferences and thoughtfully incorporate feedback Schedule meetings, site visits, and installation timelines with attention to detail Assist in the preparation and refinement of construction drawings for implementation Visit project sites to verify conditions and ensure alignment with the design vision Take precise field measurements and document existing conditions Support installations and final styling to ensure a cohesive and elevated result Manage multiple projects while maintaining organization, timelines, and budget awareness Curate and maintain the resource and sample library Support proposal development and scope-of-work documentation Maintain organized digital project files and documentation standards Assist in resolving design details or field conditions during construction Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Proficiency in design software such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 2020 Design, Revit, or similar platforms Strong understanding of design principles, including color, spatial planning, and lighting Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities with care and precision Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Working knowledge of residential construction and materials Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through Why Join Gramophone Design Build?
