Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings, AISC 341 Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings, AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code for Steel and RCSC Specification for Structural Joints using High-Strength Bolts. Design of new bar joist and metal deck roof structures for smaller buildings in accordance with the SJI Code of Standard Practice for Steel Joists and Joist Girders and the SDI Code of Recommended Standard Practice, and review and modification of existing roof structures for revised rooftop loadings to accommodate new equipment and/or updated Building Code requirements. Evaluations of imposed environmental and physical loads to design concrete foundations for building structures in a variety of geotechnical conditions, including shallow foundations, pile-supported foundations, expansive soil conditions, etc. in accordance with the ACI-318 and The International Building Code.

Prepare detailed design calculations for wood and metal stud framed walls, roofs, and openings in accordance with The National Design Specification for Wood Construction and The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members for low-rise retail and commercial structures including connection design for simple connections. Travel to existing building sites to observe, review, and evaluate existing conditions either due to damaged structures or as a pre-cursor to modifications or expansions to the existing structure and prepare field reports and detailed structural designs for repairs, modifications, or expansions.

Review structural shop drawings and erection drawings for compliance with the prepared structural calculations and permitted drawings. Coordinate with the Project Manager/Partner-in-Charge for any issues encountered in the project, including determination of fixes in the shop or in the field due to fabrication and detailing errors or special requests by the fabricator or the contractor.
