Job Description

Light-Gauge Steel Truss Designer | Cold-Formed Steel (CFS)
North Carolina Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Light-Gauge Steel Truss Designer to join their growing team. This designer will play a critical role in producing accurate, code-compliant truss and framing designs for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and proficient with design software used for light-gauge steel systems. This role will be groomed for the design manager role
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and detail CFS trusses and framing systems for a variety of building @types
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop efficient design solutions
  • Use design software to generate accurate layouts and shop drawings
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met
  • Optimize material usage while ensuring structural integrity and code compliance
  • Revise designs based on customer feedback, engineering input, or field issues
  • Coordinate with production and installation teams to resolve constructability issues
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in CFS truss or framing design (light-gauge steel required)
  • Proficiency with relevant design and drafting tools ALPINE software preferred (e.g., FRAMECAD, MWF, Revit, AutoCAD )
  • Strong knowledge of
IBC , ASTM
, and other relevant building codes and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred:
Bachelors degree, Experience working with multifamily or commercial projects
  • Familiarity with structural engineering principles as they apply to CFS Resumes for Light Gauge steel designer can be confidentially submitted to matt.
