TRANSPORTATION DESIGNER / ROADWAY MODELER GEOSPATIAL GROUP OHIO POSITION SUMMARY
Spicer Group is actively seeking a highly talented and self-motivated Transportation Designer / Roadway Modeler to join our Geospatial Group. We are a dynamic engineering and surveying firm, dedicated to delivering innovative infrastructure solutions. As a Transportation Designer / Roadway Modeler, you will play a key role in developing detailed roadway designs and 3D models using advanced CAD software. You will collaborate closely with surveyors, engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure accurate and efficient modeling that supports project goals from concept through construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and maintain detailed 3D roadway models using CAD software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads Designer, or similar platforms Review plans, identify plan issues, prepare RFI documentation Interpret design intent, make design recommendations Prepare quantity takeoff calculations and project quantity summaries with professional presentation Collaborate with engineers and designers to interpret design criteria and incorporate them into accurate models Maintain and update models throughout construction as field changes occur Provide quality assurance reviews of contractor models on behalf of the owner Review and verify design data to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards Mentor junior technicians and designers and provide technical guidance on modeling best practices Coordinate with survey teams to integrate model data into field practices Stay updated on industry trends, software updates, and best practices in roadway modeling Physical presence is an essential function of this job. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) as a transportation designer specializing in roadway modeling, corridor and template development Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads Designer, or equivalent CAD software Strong understanding of roadway design principles, geometric design standards, and construction processes Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data accurately Excellent attention to detail and highly technical problem-solving skills Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant certifications or training in CAD technologies or civil engineering is a plus Significant Experience with Bentley Open Roads Designer
