We're seeking a thoughtful and collaborative Architect —a licensed professional with a strong technical foundation and a passion for design excellence—to join our practice working. In this full-time hybrid role, you will lead the coordination and development of architectural documentation across a range of project types, supporting projects from early design through construction and closeout. Working closely with Design Principals, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will translate design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable solutions while ensuring alignment with client goals, project requirements, and regulatory standards. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, brings strong technical expertise, and is committed to delivering thoughtful, well-executed design that is sustainable, contextually responsive, and enduring—particularly within higher education environments. Job Responsibilities Project Delivery & Team Coordination Collaborate with the Design Principal and Project Manager to deliver architectural services aligned with project goals, schedule, and budget Engage in client meetings to gain a clear understanding of project objectives, program requirements, and spatial needs Coordinate with internal team members and external consultants, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty disciplines Guide and mentor the work of designers and other staff supporting project delivery Identify and communicate inconsistencies, omissions, or conflicts in project information Design Development & Documentation Prepare and develop design drawings, presentations, and construction documents using BIM/CAD tools Translate approved design concepts into coordinated technical documentation Ensure construction documents clearly communicate materials, systems, and construction intent Incorporate applicable building codes, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements Collaborate to evaluate project program, schedule, site conditions, and cost considerations Construction Phase & Project Implementation Provide strategic direction for higher education planning concepts and technical solutions across all phases of design Facilitate stakeholder engagement and program discovery sessions with campus partners, faculty, and administrators to align design strategies with academic goals and institutional priorities Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate academic, student life, and campus planning considerations into the overall project vision Clearly communicate planning concepts through compelling presentations, documentation, diagrams, and written narratives Promote design excellence and environmentally responsible outcomes that strengthen Hanbury's presence in the Higher Education market Coordinate key drawings, specifications, and milestone deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and client expectations Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree Licensed Registered Architect 8+ years of experience with demonstrated responsibility in project documentation and coordination Proven project management experience coordinating complex architectural projects from design through construction Proven ability to lead construction document production and multidisciplinary consultant coordination Proficiency in Revit and strong understanding of architectural documentation standards Solid knowledge of building systems, materials, detailing, and applicable codes/regulations Experience supporting construction phase services (submittals, RFIs, site visits, and closeout) Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams Experience with Higher Education projects, including campus planning, academic facilities, and stakeholder engagement Competitive compensation Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan Employee Stock Ownership Plan Disability & Life Insurance FSA/HSA options Generous Paid Leave (based on your experience) Paid Family Leave Educational Benefits Working with an industry leader that values people!
