Civil Designer Job Description The Civil Designer collaborates closely with civil, environmental, and structural engineers to produce detailed AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings for civil infrastructure, site development, and dredging projects. This role manages the CAD component of multidiscipline projects from initiation through completion, ensuring design accuracy and consistency at every phase. The Civil Designer supports staff engineers with technical CAD guidance, helps refine design standards and workflows, and contributes to a variety of project types, including remedial, stormwater, and landfill-related designs. Responsibilities Collaborate with civil, environmental, and structural engineers to develop detailed AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings for civil infrastructure, site development, and dredging projects. Develop dredge templates and calculate dredge volumes between existing and proposed surfaces to support accurate design and construction planning. Manage the CAD component of multidiscipline projects from start-up to completion, actively monitoring design details and ensuring consistency throughout each project phase. Provide technical CAD support to staff engineers, assisting with design development, troubleshooting, and drawing production. Contribute to the development and refinement of civil design standards, CAD workflows, and best practices within the Autodesk Civil 3D platform. Coordinate with other project disciplines, including structural, environmental, and utilities teams, to ensure integrated and conflict-free designs. Prepare, document, and update drawings for record purposes, including creating and maintaining accurate as-built drawings. Incorporate grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater, and remedial design requirements into project drawings in alignment with project specifications. Use hydrologic and stormwater tools, such as HydroCAD or similar applications, to support stormwater and drainage design documentation. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. At least 3 years of hands-on experience using Autodesk Civil 3D for civil design projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D for developing detailed civil infrastructure and site development drawings. Experience with remedial design and the integration of remedial solutions into civil design projects. Strong understanding of civil design principles, including grading, drainage, utilities, and site development. Ability to develop dredge templates and calculate dredge volumes between existing and proposed surfaces. Experience preparing and updating as-built drawings and record documentation. Ability to manage CAD tasks on multidiscipline projects from initiation through completion. Effective coordination and communication skills for working with multiple engineering disciplines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with landfill design and groundwater-related civil design projects. Familiarity with stormwater design, including the use of tools such as HydroCAD or similar software. Experience in remedial and environmental design projects, particularly those involving drainage and stormwater management. Experience supporting the development and implementation of CAD standards and workflows within an engineering team. Ability to learn and adopt new technologies and features within the Autodesk Civil 3D design platform. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality drawings. Capability to work on multiple project types and adapt to varying project requirements and priorities. Work Environment The Civil Designer works a standard Monday through Friday schedule, supporting a variety of civil, environmental, and structural projects. The role involves extensive use of Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and related civil design and stormwater tools in an office-based, design-focused environment. Team members collaborate closely across disciplines, sharing information and coordinating design details to deliver integrated project solutions. The position offers exposure to multiple project types, including site development, dredging, remedial design, stormwater, and landfill-related work, providing a dynamic and engaging workload in a professional engineering setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of De Pere, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
