JOB DESCRIPTION
Restless Works is currently accepting applications for an immediate Summer 2026 Architectural Internship position. The internship will run through June, July, and August 2026, with the potential for extension if it feels like a strong fit for both the studio and applicant. Please see below for further details:
ROLE:
Architectural Intern This is preferably an in-person / in-office position based in Andes, New York. Remote candidates may be considered; responsibilities may be adjusted for remote work. Flexible hourly schedule between 20-40 hours per week Interns will work closely with all members of the studio and contribute to projects across all phases of design and construction The role includes both office work and frequent site visits Because we operate as a highly collaborative studio, interns are involved in real project conversations from day one — contributing ideas, solving problems, participating in reviews, and helping move projects forward in meaningful ways.
Projects may include:
New homes Renovations and additions Interiors and furniture Installations and experimental work Whatever else happens to come through the door Restless Works is a design-focused architecture and interiors studio that approaches every project as a collaborative effort between designer, client, and craftsman. Working in a rural context means interns will gain exposure not only to design work within the studio, but also to construction sites, fabrication processes, consultants, craftspeople, and the realities of how projects come together outside the office environment. Studio Culture / Expectations Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently when needed Willingness to contribute as part of a highly collaborative team environment Strong communication skills and openness to feedback and discussion Interest in participating across many aspects of the work rather than maintaining ownership over a single scope or task Ability to balance design thinking with organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
REQUIREMENTS
Education Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, a professional architecture or interior design program preferred Software and Skills Rhino proficiency preferred AutoCAD and/or ArchiCAD proficiency preferred Adobe Creative Suite proficiency required (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Rendering experience is a plus (Enscape, V-Ray, Corona, or similar) Strong graphic, organizational, and communication skills Interest in residential architecture, interiors, detailing, materials, and construction processes Experience Prior internship, fabrication, construction, furniture-making, or hands-on building experience is a plus, but not required What You'll Gain Direct involvement in active residential projects Exposure to all phases of design and construction Frequent site visits and coordination experience Collaborative studio environment with direct access to principals and project discussions Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to real built work
