Job Description

Job Summary:
The Architectural Designer works closely with the drafting and design teams and engineers to develop construction drawings for single family and multi-family residential projects. Additionally, this position provides support during construction to answer field questions, coordinate required revisions and engineering changes, and ensure projects are properly documented within the company and with the local jurisdictions.
Experience:
Abachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent experience with 4 to 7 years of experience in residential wood framed construction is preferred. Experience working directly with clients on plan modifications and working for a production builder is preferred.
Skills:
Applicants should have proficient computer skills and experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite software. Familiarity with the software Blackpoint is preferred. Applicants should have a high attention to detail and results, and a strong understanding of wood framed construction, design standards, construction standards, and residential building codes. Strong verbal, written, and graphic visualization communication skills. Teamwork skills.
Abilities:
Able to work with limited supervision, take responsibility of assigned projects, and drive them to completion. Results oriented while maintaining attention to detail. Ability and willingness to learn. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assist in consulting with buyers who make custom changes to their new home plan. 2. Responsible to produce design drawings and site plans for permitting, construction, and marketing. 3. Provide support during construction; including responding to questions, addressing issues, and implementing plan revisions as directed. 4. Assist in the creation of new plans and designs as directed from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images, along with written and verbal descriptions. 5. Responsible for plan management including corrections, alterations, and changes to assigned plans. 6. Responsible for reviewing building codes, zoning codes, and local amendments to implement into the plans. 7. Work closely with all departments in the company to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error-free. 8. Assist team in converting plans to Blackpoint. 9. Performs additional related duties as requested or required.
Typical Working Conditions:
The person in this position will work inside the main office; normal work hours are Monday through Friday and vary between 8:00 A.M. and 5:30 P.M.; additional hours may be required during the week or on weekends. Regular attendance is required. Must have valid driver's license.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Work is performed under the supervision of the COO. Works independently within authority limits and experience level. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.

$70,000.00 per year
