Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Ladle Repair Assistant and become a vital part of our heavy industrial operations! In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of ladles used in high-temperature metal processing. Your energetic approach and mechanical aptitude will ensure the smooth operation of equipment critical to our manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills in heavy equipment repair while working in a fast-paced, safety-focused foundry. Hours are 2p-2a. Responsibilities Assist with the inspection, disassembly, and reassembly of ladles, ensuring all components meet safety and quality standards Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to perform repairs and modifications on ladle shells, refractory linings, and related components Support heavy lifting operations using appropriate rigging and lifting equipment to handle large ladle parts safely Read schematics and technical manuals to identify repair procedures and troubleshoot issues effectively Conduct routine maintenance tasks on ladles, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to prevent downtime Collaborate with service technicians to diagnose mechanical or electrical faults in ladle systems, including diesel engines or generator components Maintain detailed records of repairs performed, parts used, and inspection outcomes for safety compliance and operational tracking The ladle repair position in a foundry involves a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient and safe handling of molten metal. Here are some key responsibilities and requirements for this role: Regular inspections are necessary to identify any signs of wear, damage, or defects that could compromise the ladle's performance. Repairs may include welding, patching, and lining with refractory materials to restore the ladle's functionality. Proper maintenance practices, such as cleaning and using safety precautions, are essential to prolong the ladle's lifespan and prevent accidents. Working in a foundry environment : The role is typically performed in a high-temperature, high-risk environment, requiring adherence to safety standards and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks. These responsibilities highlight the importance of a ladle repair position in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the metal production process. Experience Prior experience working in a foundry Prior experience working in Ladle repair, Melt department, Furnace department Knowledge of schematics, electrical systems, diesel engine repair, welding, soldering, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques Familiarity with tools such as hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy lifting gear Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors during repairs Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing in a manufacturing setting
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 48.0 - 60.0 per week
