Clarificion from the agency (1) Onboard Technicians; (2) All members of the Air/Army Nional Guard, (3) Public Duties Help 1.
Aircraft Arresting Systems:
(a) Performs daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, and off-equipment maintenance, on aircraft arresting systems. Accomplishes gasoline engine rebuilding to include removal and replacement of clutches, carburetors, starters, distributors, fuel pumps, springs and other integral parts. Checks and/or adjusts valves, bearings, cams, bushings, gear boxes, sprockets, chains and fairlead beam components. May do stripping, sanding and painting of aircraft arresting systems. Uses test equipment such as voltmeters, megohmmeters, amp meters, ohmmeters continuity tester, feeler gage and other test equipment. Solves all repair or maintenance problems using technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schemic drawings, and technical orders. (b) Replaces nylon tapes and steel wound cables due to wear, time change, or excessive aircraft engagement as directed by technical orders. Performs maintenance on the BAK-14 aircraft arresting system such as rebuilding cable support arms and air cylinders and the replacement of worn parts (cable support blocks, wire rope, springs, etc.). Troubleshoots BAK-14 solid ste controlled heing systems and position control systems and replaces heer elements, mercury switches, and solid ste heer control units. May be required to opere and troubleshoot radio control systems for the
BAK-12/14.
Must be able to deal with limited runway time while troubleshooting and performing maintenance on the
BAK-12/14.
(c) Coordines all aircraft arresting systems duties which requires access to active runways with FAA, Air Traffic Control Facility Manager, Flight Safety Officer and Airport Manager. (d) Schedules and coordines exercises to practice rewind procedures and operions and annual certificion engagements. May be required to install portable aircraft arresting systems worldwide. (e) Trains traditional guardsmen in the operion and maintenance of aircraft arresting systems; as well as training fire personnel in rewinding and resetting aircraft arresting systems. Trains other personnel in day-to-day maintenance checks and repairs for backup manpower. (f) Maintains records for documention of preventive maintenance, repairs, tape and cable life, and all aircraft engagements. Maintains records which includes daily inspections through 10 year overhaul and special inspection records. Maintains current technical order and regulions files for aircraft arresting systems and emergency power generors. (g) Establishes and controls "Special Level" and bench stock, spare parts, and supplies to expedite the repair and maintenance of aircraft arresting systems.(h) Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions such as ORI, IG, and MEI inspections, mobility and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as snow removal. 2.
Electrical Power Production Systems:
(a) Installs, repairs, maintains, and modifies electrical power production equipment. Performs repair of components such as fixed gasoline or diesel engines, generors, centrifuges, starter motors, and associed genering and distributing equipment. Conducts tests of equipment using voltmeters, amp meters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gage and other test equipment. Adjusts and calibres components to assure optimum opering efficiency within design limitions. Modifies equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specificions and other technical publicions. Accomplishes difficult opering and repair tasks beyond capability of senior workers. (b) Maintains and repairs electrical genering equipment. Performs inspection, maintenance, and major modificions; troubleshoots complex repair situions; and performs other maintenance on electric power genering equipment. Bench checks reparable components and subassemblies of electric power genering equipment by using test equipment standards, load banks and other equipment standards as may be required by technical da. Determines extent of repair/rebuild and accomplishes same. Tests and calibres repaired gauges, controls and meters to assure adequacy and reliability. Interprets maintenance malfunction da reled to the electrical power genering systems. (c) Inspects electrical power production equipment. Analyzes malfunctions by visual or auditory inspection, observion of operion and use of test equipment. Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective action. Inspects completed or in-progress work to assure compliance with standard opering procedures and technical publicions. 3. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience or training which demonstres the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrions, diagrams and schemics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operion of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelionships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schemics.
