This is not an entry-level role. Candidates must be capable of performing quality gunsmithing work independently, particularly in manual machining and firearm repair, while maintaining consistency and throughput. This role is ideal for a gunsmith who has moved beyond school or apprenticeship and is looking to develop into a high-output, highly capable technician within a professional shop. Core Qualifications Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctions across a wide range of firearm platforms Working knowledge of weapon systems including: Bolt action and lever action rifles Semi-auto handguns Shotguns (including sporting/trap/skeet) Revolvers (SA/DA) Modern sporting rifles Ability to identify required replacement parts and components for repair and restoration work Proficiency with manual machining operations , including: Lathe work (threading, barrel work, basic chambering familiarity) Mill work (optic cuts, dovetails, basic fixture use) Familiarity with: Custom jigs and workholding Basic welding operations (preferred, not required) Refinishing prep (disassembly/reassembly for coating or plating) Ability to evaluate job scope and determine a practical repair approach with minimal oversight Demonstrated ability to produce consistent, high-quality work with low rework rates Comfortable working in a throughput-driven production environment Experience Requirements Minimum 2-4 years of real-world gunsmithing experience (shop environment preferred) Experience in a high-volume or production-oriented environment strongly preferred Formal gunsmithing education (certificate or degree) preferred but not required if experience is strong Candidates fresh out of school without hands-on shop experience will not be considered for this role.
