EQUIPMENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN TRUCK SHOP 2225 S. 22ND AVENUE PHOENIX , AZ 85009
If you are a skilled and experienced mechanic with a passion for problem solving and diagnosing, and you want to be part of an elite team working on a variety of automotive and medium/heavy duty construction equipment, then this is the perfect opportunity for you! This Equipment Repair Technician position offers a great opportunity for you to combine your journey level mechanical experience and your excellent diagnostic skills in maintaining the Light/Heavy Equipment Fleet for ADOT and the State of Arizona. This position is part of a series that offers the opportunity for career advancement through our Criteria Based Promotion ( CBP ) program.
  • Power/drive train system inspection, diagnosis and repair procedures.
  • Electrical systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures.
  • Electronic control systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures.
  • Computerized diagnostic analyzer use procedures and practices.
  • Hydraulic systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures.
  • Operating principles of gasoline and diesel powered internal combustion engines.
  • Fleet maintenance shop safety principles and practices.
  • Record keeping principles and practices.
  • Repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic and automotive/heavy construction equipment.
  • Operating computerized diagnostic analyzer equipment.
  • Estimating time cost of repair maintenance work for a wide variety of automotive/heavy construction equipment.
  • Scheduling/coordinating automotive/heavy construction equipment service and repair to maximize utilization.
  • Repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or hydraulic systems in a wide variety of automotive/light/heavy construction equipment.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Interpret repair manuals, service bulletins and recall bulletins.
  • Utilize a PC and PC programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Diagnose issues quickly and accurately, and determine the best course of action to fix them.
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently, especially in high-demand environments where equipment downtime needs to be minimized.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 90 lbs; pass a physical exam. EPA
