Job Title:
Engineering Test Lab Technician Job Description The Engineering Test Lab Technician supports the design, development, and qualification testing of aerospace sensors and switch products. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, environmental chambers, electrical test setups, and data acquisition equipment. This role involves performing component and system-level tests, maintaining test equipment, automating test processes, and documenting results to support product validation and certification activities. Responsibilities Operate pneumatic and hydraulic test systems for pressure, temperature, flow, and leak testing. Operate vibration and environmental test stands such as temperature, humidity, and altitude chambers. Assemble simple electrical test circuits and instrumentation for sensor and switch evaluation. Configure and operate data acquisition systems and test automation software to collect test data. Execute engineering test procedures and record results with accuracy and attention to detail. Support test equipment maintenance, calibration, and safety checks to ensure reliable operation. Assist in the design and fabrication of test fixtures, harnesses, and adapters as needed. Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, or software-related test issues. Prepare test reports, summarize results, and communicate findings to engineering teams. Follow all company and industry safety standards and regulations. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Essential Skills Troubleshooting Environmental testing Thermal testing Pressure testing Hydraulics Aerospace Mechanical Test equipment Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Technology preferred 2+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering or test laboratory environment, preferably within the aerospace, automotive, medical, or industrial sensor industries Soldering, welding, and/or machining experience is a plus Work Environment The work environment includes various test equipment such as thermal chambers, elevator chambers for thermal/shock testing, altitude testing chambers (vacuum), hydraulic test benches, and vibration tables of different sizes. There is some flexibility to start work at 7 AM, with typically 5 hours of overtime per week as tests can run long. The department currently has two technicians, including this position, with opportunities for advancement and training others. It is a mid-sized company with a family-owned feel, providing a good opportunity to move up within the company. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burbank, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
