Job Description

The Slot Technician I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of slot machines, Class II bingo devices, Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs), and related electronic gaming equipment. This entry-level position supports the integrity, functionality, and appearance of all gaming devices, ensuring a high-quality gaming experience for guests while adhering to internal controls and gaming regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on a wide range of gaming and non-gaming equipment. Use diagnostic tools, self-diagnostic features, and troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve machine malfunctions. Operate shop equipment safely and effectively, including hand tools, soldering equipment, and electronic test instruments. Perform routine preventive maintenance on gaming devices and signage to ensure continued operational efficiency. Assist with the placement, relocation, and setup of gaming machines and player tracking hardware. Clean, inspect, and maintain the external and internal components of slot machines and associated equipment. Respond to floor calls for minor tilts, paper jams, and provide general customer service support. Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activity, repair logs, and parts usage. Follow all internal controls and security procedures regarding slot machines, components, and repair methods. Maintain the security of equipment, funds, and sensitive documentation. Learn and support the parts ordering and inventory tracking systems. Adhere to all safety standards and report hazardous conditions to the Slot Supervisor. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic understanding of Class II and Class III gaming devices and tracking systems is preferred. Familiarity with electronics theory, schematics, and use of multi-testers required. Basic metal fabrication or machine shop experience is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment. Must demonstrate discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Excellent customer service and communication skills required. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Competency in basic computer and software applications is required. Professional demeanor with a commitment to high ethical standards. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Technical training or coursework in electronics, information technology, or a related field is preferred. Certifications from slot machine manufacturers (e.g., IGT, Aristocrat, Bally) are a plus. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in electronics repair, technical support, or slot machine maintenance preferred. Basic knowledge of slot machine components, troubleshooting techniques, and regulatory compliance requirements. Ability to perform minor repairs, routine maintenance, and assist with machine installations and conversions. Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced casino environment. Good communication and teamwork skills with a guest-focused attitude. Prior experience in a casino or gaming environment is a plus.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Communication Skills:
Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in person and over radio with team members, supervisors, and occasionally guests; responsible for reporting service issues, receiving assignments, and documenting repairs.
Lifting and Carrying:
Frequently lifts and transports slot machine components, tools, and replacement parts weighing up to 50 pounds; may also push or pull carts of equipment across the casino floor.
Manual Dexterity:
Continuously uses hands and fingers to manipulate small parts, connect wiring, perform precision repairs, and operate tools and diagnostic devices with accuracy.
Mobility:
Frequently walks, stands, climbs, bends, kneels, and crouches throughout the shift to access machines in various locations, including confined spaces and elevated positions.
Stationary Work:
Occasionally remains seated while completing technical documentation, reviewing repair logs, or entering service data at a workstation.
Tool Operation:
Regular use of multimeters, hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software, cleaning equipment, and slot system hardware; responsible for safe and effective use of all repair tools.
Visual Acuity:
Requires excellent close vision and attention to detail to inspect wiring, read diagrams, troubleshoot machine displays, and complete fine repairs with accuracy.
Working Conditions:
Routinely operates on the casino floor and in slot repair rooms; frequent exposure to flashing lights, loud noise, electrical equipment, confined spaces, and a smoking environment throughout the property.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
