Developing Grinder What You'll Do:
Perform OD and surface grinding on manual or basic CNC cylindrical grinders (pre-set machines) Verify thickness and diameter using micrometers and gauges Understand and reference GD&T and blueprints Work with specified collets, chucks, and v-blocks Compute offsets within 0.0001" Complete inspection and in-process documentation for traceability Escalate tooling or quality concerns to senior technicians Maintain safety and first-time quality standards
Qualifications:
Machine shop or similar environment experience preferred Basic GD&T and gaging comprehension required Mechanical aptitude strongly desired High School Diploma or equivalent ๐Ÿ”น Precision Grinder Level II Intermediate /
Setup & Process Control What You'll Do:
Perform basic setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CNC and manual OD grinders Use advanced inspection tools (profilometers, air gauges, laser micrometers, camber gauges) Make adjustments for cylindricity (taper) and surface finish Dress and modify grinding wheels and tooling Compute offsets, taper, and clearances with high precision Hold implied cylindricity tolerances within 0.000050" Support Level I associates and assist with training Document inspection results and support NCR documentation
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience with precision ground assemblies Strong knowledge of GD&T, grinding media, and gaging practices Manual and CNC grinding experience FANUC or equivalent CNC controls preferred ๐Ÿ”น Precision Grinder Level III Advanced /
Technical Expert What You'll Do:
Perform full setups, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting on ID/OD and form grinders Conduct call grind and functional verification using flow benches and specialized gauges Select feeds, speeds, media, and establish new machining techniques Configure machine baselines for the tightest tolerance requirements Collaborate with engineering to troubleshoot and refine processes Achieve and report measurement resolution approaching 0.000010" (tens of millionths) Develop tooling and assist in media specification Mentor Level I and II technicians
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of precision grinding experience Advanced GD&T, grinding media, and process control knowledge Manual and CNC grinding expertise FANUC or equivalent CNC controls preferred Work Environment & Physical Requirements Clean, organized manufacturing environment Primarily seated role Use of microscope and computer systems Lift/push up to 40 lbs Required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) Overtime flexibility as needed Why Join?
